Causes for Shoulder Pain

Hey, ELC family, it's Dr. Tori here. Today we are talking about potential causes for shoulder pain.

So there could be a bunch of triggers that could cause shoulder pain. One of them being any type of sport that you could be playing, anything overhead, like baseball, softball with the pitching and repetitive throwing, as well as volleyball with your hits, swimming with those long arm motions, and many other sports because of that repetitive motion of the arm going overhead.

Other things such as, depending on the work you do, if you're doing physical labor or if you're sitting at a desk all day, having that same posture, same mechanics that you're doing every day can really put strain and deteriorate your shoulder joints and cause pain there.

Another thing, big thing that everyone deals with is that posture, that rolling of the shoulder, that really puts strain on the whole muscles that hold that shoulder joint together and can potentially cause problems long term if not corrected soon enough to stop that progression of that shoulder pain.

So throughout the next couple of weeks, we're going to go through different parts of this, the structural muscular and neurological effects the shoulder has and what all happens and what we can do here at ELC. If you have shoulder problems, ask your doctor next time you're in if there's something they can do for you.

Be Well,

Dr. Tori
