Our Technique

Advanced Muscle Palpation

The most common compliment we receive on our chiropractic adjusting technique is how gentle it is. The secret is in the analysis. At Essentials of Life Chiropractic, we use a unique style of spinal analysis called Advanced Muscle Palpation (AMP).

The AMP technique is simple and based on sound chiropractic principles. The body is amazingly intelligent. It always knows where each spinal misalignment (subluxation) is located. The body will attempt to use its own machinery, i.e. the tiny paraspinal muscles, to correct the subluxations. Sometimes it can, but sometimes it cannot, and the subluxation remains. Chiropractors trained in AMP can recognize patterns in those paraspinal muscles, and thus adjust the body specifically where it needs to be adjusted.

The reason our adjustments are so gentle and smooth is because they work with the body rather than trying to overpower it.

Extremity Adjusting

The purpose of chiropractic care is the detection and correction of subluxation for the optimization of the nervous system. Most of the time this occurs at the level of the spine. However, this does occasionally occur in extremity joints such as the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot.

Our doctors are experienced in treating both the spine and the extremities, ensuring you receive whole body care in our office.

Webster Technique

Helping women have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery is one of our greatest joys at Essentials of Life Chiropractic. While pregnancy is an amazing journey, it often adds extra stress to the spine and pelvis. This can lead to uterine tension, which can cause restrictions in baby's position, movement, and development.

The Webster technique is a chiropractic method of evaluating the alignment and mobility of mom's pelvis. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can be used to correct the misalignments and facilitate normal function for both mom and baby. This technique has helped so many women achieve a healthy pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Activator Adjusting

In addition to manual adjustments, or adjustments done by hand, our doctors also utilize an instrument called an activator for certain adjustments. An activator is a spring-loaded, handheld device used to adjust the spine and extremities. Designed to mimic adjustments done by hand, activator adjustments are both safe and effective.

Nervous System Scans

At our office, we utilize the Insight Nervous System Scans to evaluate your nervous system and track the progress of your care. These scans allow us to detect and pinpoint abnormal functions of the nervous system which cannot be seen on X-Ray or felt until the damage is severe. The scans will show if there is any stress on your nervous system which may be affecting your organs, glands, muscles, and energy levels.

The scans consist of three parts: Heart Rate Variability, Surface Electromyography (EMG), and Rolling Thermal. The entire scanning process is painless and only takes about 10 minutes. The Rolling Thermal scan shows which levels of the spinal nerves are reacting out of normal ranges in their ability to regulate organs and organ systems. The Surface EMG scan evaluates the nerves that control muscles to maintain posture and spinal movements. Spinal imbalances and chronic misalignments of the spine create increased muscle tension. The Heart Rate Variability scan assesses the balance between stress and recovery as well as the capacity for the body to heal. Together, these scans give the doctors novel insight into the root cause of your symptoms and guide your care. If there are any indications during your exam for imaging such as an X-Ray or MRI, our doctors will refer you to our partner imaging center to ensure safety for your care.
