Andover MN Chiropractor Explains
Immune Boosters
The last ELC Thought hit you with a dose of physiological philosophy (try to say THAT five times fast!) on what it means to be sick versus well in Andover MN. Do you still think being stuffed-up and tired with a fever means you are sick??
Well, having that type of discussion is all fun and games until SOMEONE asks the practical question, "So what? Maybe that doesn't mean I'm sick, but I'm still miserable! What can I do about THAT, Doc?"
Great question (that was asked by more than a few people). Here's my secret Andover IMMUNE BOOSTER formula:
1. Get plenty of REST in Andover MN
When you feel tired, that is your body trying to tell you something! It needs rest. Sleep is when your body repairs itself. If your immune system is going to fight against viruses or bacteria, it will have to be functioning at its best.
2. Drink more WATER
Dehydration is a huge stress on the body. Stress reduces immunity. In addition, the immune response creates a lot of debris as it disposes of viruses and bacteria. Water will help your body flush it all out.
3. Eat Vitamin C-rich FOODS
Everyone knows that Vitamin C helps increase immunity. What most people don't know is that Vitamin C is absorbed and used better when it is consumed in the form of food. Good sources include: guava, bell peppers, kale, broccoli, kiwi, strawberry, and oranges. I also recommend a fruit and vegetable concentrate (Juice Plus) that is loaded with natural Vitamin C.
4. Do moderate EXERCISE
I realize this sounds contradictory to #1. I also know it is incredibly hard to motivate yourself to exercise when you don't feel well. However, mild to moderate exercise does two very important things. First, it amplifies the immune response. Second, it increases blood flow. This brings more oxygen and nutrients to the body and removes more of that debris we talked about in step #2.
5. Extra CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
Your nervous system, which runs through your spine, directly controls your immune system. If there are interferences (subluxations) along your spine, your nervous system will be limited. Clear out those subluxations, and unleash the full power of your immune system!
There you have you have it. Now you know all my secrets!
